After changing his career as a dancer and IT professional at a law firm to become a stylist and beauty professional, Ashton Scarlet finally feels he’s found his niche. Landis Lifestyle Salons has become a place where he can express his artistic talents as well as his technical aptitude. “I’m a problem-solver,” he says. “There are limited ways to troubleshoot a printer, but infinite ways to troubleshoot a hair style.”
Educated at Paul Mitchell The School, Ashton takes great pride in pushing the boundaries of his creative prowess. “I’m quite competitive, so watching (and finding ways to help) my friends and family succeed, pushes me to be better at what I do.” In addition to being a certified Allied Beauty Extension expert in bead, tape-in, and hot fusion extensions, Ashton’s ingenuity and dexterity at cutting, coloring, and blow-drying define his work. ”It’s Style by Scarlet!”
Ashton says his fellow stylists have encouraged him to embrace what’s personal, what’s unique, and what’s most important in life—maintaining a close-knit group of friends and family. He enjoys time spent playing video games and nerding out on Dungeons & Dragons with friends. He adores his little Borgi (Border Collie and Corgi), who demands all his attention at home. He volunteers for Equality Utah. And he is a huge RuPaul’s Drag Race fan, drawing inspiration from drag queen hair, makeup and couture. But most of all, he follows his inspiration—“I love to create: writing, drawing, painting, and crafting. Not to say I’m great at any of these hobbies, but it still doesn’t stop me from trying and experiencing new things.”
