At Landis Lifestyle Salon, we run a 36-week, paid New Artist Program to attract and retain top new hairstyling talent in the Salt Lake City area. This program teaches you the skills you need to work at one of our premier hair salon locations.
Hair Styling 101, 202 & 303
Although you may have studied cosmetology, what makes a hair stylist successful is having the proper technique, knowledge and experience. You get all this and more at our New Artist Program.
We teach you everything you need to know about products, including Aveda hair color, color theory and color application. We have developed a haircutting curriculum as well, so that you can learn to reproduce all the most popular styles on many different types of hair. We also teach blow-drying techniques so all your clients will leave the hair salon looking fabulous.
Assisting Phase
Initially, you will assist our highly trained and experienced hair stylists in order to become familiar with our salon as well as Aveda services. You’ll attend classes twice a week to perform services on models under the tutelage of your mentor.
Phase 1
In Phase 1 of the New Artist Program, you will continue to take classes once a week to perform services on models, but you will also start to take your own clients in our salon.
Phase 2
In Phase 2, you will continue to take classes, perform services and serve clients, but you will be expected to complete services faster. That’s because by this point you will have received many hours of instruction for cutting and coloring. Plus, you will have lots of practice under your belt, so you’ll be able to charge more for your services.
Communication Skills
The most important part of being a hair stylist is skill — you must know how to cut, color and style hair to the customer’s wishes. But being a good hair stylist is more than that. We teach you the communication and customer service skills you need to be successful.
As a graduate of our New Artist Program, you will have what it takes to build a loyal clientele in Salt Lake City. As you grow as a top hair stylist, remember that you will always be able to turn to your mentor for help and advice, and you will have unlimited access to valuable resources to keep improving.
